Dear All,

I am emailing you either because you have expressed interest in hosting a destitute asylum seeker, or because you have church or community connections and could pass this email on to them.

Over the past year there have been increasing concerns about the number of asylum seekers in Bolton being refused asylum, and subsequently being made destitute with no recourse to public funds. The Bolton Destitution Project now has 28 registered as destitute, some for many months.

As a result we have called a meeting for potential hosts and supporters at the Quaker Meeting House, 50, Silverwell Street, Bolton, BL1 1PP, from 7.30 – 9.00 pm on Thursday December 1st.

The meeting will outline how the project would work, and all that is involved in hosting, with input from current and / or former hosts and possibly also an asylum seeker guest. The aim of the meeting is to gauge the amount of support for such a scheme, and if possible to plan a launch date in the New Year, while addressing any issues and questions that people may have.

I would be grateful if you would circulate this email where appropriate.

Thank You
