Part time Refugee Housing Support Worker

 

City of Sanctuary Bolton (CoSB) is a local voluntary group affiliated to the national City of Sanctuary movement, committed to creating a culture of welcome and safety for refugees and asylum seekers seeking sanctuary in Bolton from war and persecution.

Job Purpose: To work with the CoSB committee to meet the housing support needs of local refugees and asylum seekers, in particular through developing a Hosting Scheme, by:

  • recruiting volunteer hosts with a spare bedroom in the Bolton MBC area and matching them with destitute asylum seekers in need of accommodation.
  • publicising the scheme widely, training and supporting hosts, supporting those who are placed (guests) and monitoring the progress of the scheme.

Salary Scale:       £19,677 per year (pro rata)

Hours:                  10 hours per week – £2,811 over 6 months

Contract length:               Initial 6 month period

Skills & experience: To be appointed to this role you will need experience of developing and delivering high quality, confidential, user-centred services for vulnerable people.  You will also need to have working knowledge of housing provision relating to vulnerable people, in particular refugees and asylum seekers. You will need to have experience of working with volunteers.
